Five Apps You Need To Keep Your Health Blog Organized

Running a blog without a strategy or system is exhausting. Trust me, I write blogs for so many health coaches (not to mention my blog), and if I didn’t have a system in place to keep me organized I would go crazy!


In this article, I will share five apps that help me keep blog content organized and that are critical to my blog writing strategy. You’ll learn the five apps you need to keep your health blog organized.


I remember back in my college days running the 3,000m Steeplechase.


It’s a 7 and a half lap race where you jump over 35 barriers, seven of which are in front of a water pit. Not to toot my own horn, but it’s one of the more strategic races in track & field.


If you let your nerves take over and sprint out the first few laps you’ll be in a world of hurt later on. Let’s not mention the increased risk of an embarrassing faceplant in the water pit when you’re that tired.


To have a successful race it was critical to organize each lap and create a strategy, too.

Thankfully, I had coaches and older teammates who taught me what to do and how to do it (I still suffered a few faceplants, enacting strategy is sometimes easier said than done).


So what does running the 3k steeplechase have to do with writing a health blog?


Strategy and organization, my friends. It’s critical in both situations.


When starting a health blog it’s easy to get excited and sprint the start. A lot of my clients have done the same thing. They’re ready to get their business on the map and start marketing themselves.


The problem is that they have no plan, no tools to help them succeed, and no strategy. It’s easy to get burnt out quickly when that’s your situation.


Today, I’m going to give you tools to help you succeed, so your health blog stays organized and strategic.


Evernote


This is a notetaking tool I use to help me gather story ideas and write blogs faster. Yes, you can totally use your notes app on your phone. But, I like the interface of Evernote and how the desktop and mobile versions are integrated.


I also like to keep tools I use for my business and tools I use to do things like make a grocery list separate.


So how do I use Evernote?


I collect quotes from people I admire to use in blogs in one note and a story bank in another note. My story bank consists of events that happened to me on any given day that I think would work well in a blog post.


Evernote helps me add character and relatability to my blog posts quickly and efficiently.


ClickUp


ClickUp is a project management tool that helps me keep client work organized. Like I said before, I write my own blog and health blogs for health coaches and functional medicine practitioners.


In ClickUp, I can organize projects like blogs by the due date and assign them to various people. I can also share my workspace with others.


ClickUp is especially helpful because it has a calendar view where I can see what my month will look like work-wise. It’s a great resource to help you stay organized and stay ahead of content creation!


Google Drive


This may seem like a no-brainer, but I write and save everything in Google Drive. It’s my jam.


I create folders for each platform and write all content on a Google Doc. If you’re thinking of starting a health blog I highly recommend you write your content away from the platform you post it on.


Writing in WordPress is great, but it can be a little intimidating. A Google Doc will also help you track word count and typos, not to mention give you the ability to easily share with your team.


Google Ads SEO Keyword Planner


This tool steps away from the organization side of things and walks right into strategy. Like I said earlier, keeping your content organized is so important to preventing burnout. Strategy is another key component.


The Google Ads SEO Keyword Planner is a free tool that will help you write a health blog that shows up on Google Search.


SEO strategy refers to search engine optimization. It’s not as hard as it seems. The key is to choose a good keyword to rank for and weave it into your blog post through the first and last paragraphs, headings and sub-headings, and the meta description.


A good keyword is one that your target audience would likely search for, has low competition and a high search volume.

Pinterest


I love Pinterest. Not only does it function as a search engine itself, but where else can you find beautiful infographics of the latest summer styles to postpartum tips for first-time moms! Yes, those are my latest searches.


It’s also a great tool to help you come up with blog post ideas! Simply search for a topic you think your audience would be interested in and Madlib for blog post ideas and inspiration.


Don’t copy verbatim what someone else wrote, but use it as inspiration for your own ideas!
